Tim Kreider is my new favorite writer. Here he is on his bike — thnx, Kate! — and drinking too much. And here’s his new book, which I just started, and is killing me — don’t miss the funny video he made for it.
The always-brilliant Ted Conover on rehab.
Polls open in Egypt in an hour. This story hit me hard this morning. Hoping for the best in that weird, vague, uncomfortable way you have to when you aren’t sure what the best is.
Happy birthday, Peter. Aside from The Snow Leopard, my favorite of his books is a lesser known title called Blue Meridian. Somewhere in there he writes about hearing a whale’s song for the first time, and how it feels to him as if its the sound of the beginning of life. The world would be a wiser and gentler place, he writes, if each of us started our day with that sound.
More on PM, from today’s Writer’s Almanac (which also includes a really sharp little poem): Matheissen said, “I’ve never been bored one day in my life. I could fill 500 years with no problem.”
This is how you tease a movie. This tells me almost nothing about this film. But I will go see it.
Amazing GoPro study in POV.
I can hardly believe this guy is real. He is. And he’s brilliant(ly mean).
TAL live show tonight! Very excited. Just reading Twitter and I’ve already seen posts from people in 35 cities. Such an awesome communal event. Satellites rule. Except when they don’t.
We work with these people. Our third of three LA shows is tonight!
